For years, I thought my shower doors were just old. They always looked a little dull, no matter how much I cleaned them. I’d spray, scrub, rinse — and still end up with streaks and those stubborn white spots that make everything look dirty.
Then one day, a friend mentioned something that honestly sounded too easy to be true: “Just use a squeegee every time you shower.”
I laughed at first. A squeegee? The thing people use on car windows? But I figured I’d try it — and I’m not kidding, it changed everything.

Why This Works So Well
I bought a small plastic squeegee at the dollar store. Nothing fancy, just one of those with a rubber blade and a hook to hang it up. After each shower, I run it down the glass a couple of times. That’s it.
It takes maybe thirty seconds, and it completely prevents the spots and cloudy film that come from water drying on the surface. I don’t even need to use cleaning products anymore. The glass just… stays clear.
It’s now such a habit that I barely think about it. And my shower hasn’t looked this good since it was installed.
When the Glass Is Already Cloudy
If you’re starting with glass that’s already covered in limescale or soap scum, there’s an easy fix before you begin the squeegee routine.
- White vinegar: Mix equal parts vinegar and warm water. Apply with a sponge or spray bottle, let it sit for a few minutes, then rinse and dry. It dissolves most of the mineral buildup right away.
- Lemon: Cut one in half and rub it directly on the glass. It’s surprisingly effective, and it leaves the bathroom smelling clean and fresh.
After doing that once, the daily squeegee keeps everything looking new.
Small Effort, Big Payoff
I used to spend way too much time trying to get that “hotel bathroom” shine. Now, it takes less than a minute a day.
It’s funny how something so small can make such a difference. A $1 squeegee and thirty seconds — that’s all it took to make my shower look brand new again.
