Tenways’ longest-range e-bike debuts: meet the Wayfarer

Show summary Hide summary

TENWAYS has unveiled the Wayfarer, a new all-terrain city e-bike that pushes the brand’s range and comfort forward. It promises long rides, robust assist, and commuter-friendly features at an attractive price.

Power, mode options and how it rides

The Wayfarer pairs a rear-hub drive with both pedal-assist and a detachable throttle. That mix lets riders choose effort or pure electric power.

The motor is a Bafang M110 in the rear hub. It delivers 500W continuous and peaks around 750W. A torque sensor adjusts assistance smoothly to your pedaling.

  • Pedal-assist for natural, responsive support.
  • Detachable throttle for motor-only propulsion.
  • Top speed set to 20 mph by default, but can be tuned to 28 mph.

Key specifications and performance numbers

  • Range: Up to 85 miles on a single charge.
  • Battery: Removable UL-certified 48V, 15Ah lithium pack.
  • Drivetrain: Shimano 8-speed gearing for hills and flats.
  • Motor: Bafang M110 48V rear hub (500W, 750W peak).
  • Class: Class 2 with a detachable throttle option.
  • Tires: Puncture-resistant Kenda EPS 27.5 x 2.6, with reflective sidewall.
  • Weight: Approximately 57.5 pounds.
  • Load capacity: Rated for about 265 pounds.

Comfort and practicality for city streets

TENWAYS built the Wayfarer with longer rides and rough roads in mind. It includes a front suspension fork and a suspension seatpost to smooth bumps.

The frame uses a step-through design to simplify mounting. Full fenders protect clothing on wet commutes and the MIK-compatible rear rack supports cargo swaps.

  • Wide saddle and plush tires for a softer ride.
  • Adjustable stem to tailor rider fit.
  • Gates Carbon Belt Drive replaces a chain for quieter, grease-free use.

The belt drive reduces maintenance and keeps pant legs clean, a plus for urban riders who want low upkeep.

Electronics, security and connectivity

The cockpit includes a bright color LCD. It has built-in password protection to deter casual theft.

  • USB-C port for charging devices on the go.
  • Apple Find My integration for locating the bike.
  • TENWAYS app support for ride logging and navigation.

Accessory compatibility and daily use

Full fenders, integrated rack compatibility, and a removable battery make errands and multi-stop days easier. The design aims to be practical first.

Pricing, launch details and where to buy

The Wayfarer lists at around $2,199 and is set to launch on Oct. 31. For a limited time, the promo code EARLYBIRD300 reduces the price by $300.

TENWAYS sells directly online and also supplies select local dealers for in-person demos and service.

Early impressions based on TENWAYS’ lineup

We have not ridden the Wayfarer yet. We did test TENWAYS’ lighter CGO600, which felt nimble but could use more suspension.

The Wayfarer answers that feedback with extra range, stronger motor output, and comfort upgrades aimed at smoothing rough urban pavement.
